Delivering expert consultancy services

Assist Knowledge Development provides a range of consultancy and mentoring services that support the effective deployment and exploitation of information systems capabilities within organisations. These services cover the three key areas shown in the diagram below.

Developing the capability

AssistKD consultants have worked with clients to build effective business and requirements analysis teams and standards. We created the Business Analysis Maturity ModelTM to support the development of business analysis teams. The AssistKD consultants have been involved with the full range of activities required to build capability including:

  • competency and role definition, including the use of the SFIA framework;
  • assessment and training;
  • evaluation and recommendation of standards to be adopted including techniques and approaches;
  • definition of analysis services to be provided;
  • development of standards and templates to be used on assignments;
  • assisting in the promotion of the BA role and capabilities within the organisation, including presenting at internal forums;
  • ensuring that BAs can perform as effective Internal Consultants.

Supporting assignments

Developing teams often benefit from support and guidance while they gain confidence and enhance their skills. AssistKD consultants can support and guide less experienced analysts as they conduct their assignments. Typical support services include:

  • mentoring less experienced analysts during assignments
  • the provision of a ‘centre of excellence’ service, including responding to requests for advice on approaches to be adopted or how to handle difficult situations
  • reviewing deliverables from assignments, for example business cases, reports or requirements documentation.

Executing assignments

AssistKD consultants have a wealth of experience – some have been working in business analysis and system development for over twenty years. Recent assignments they have worked on include:

  • developing business cases for business change projects
  • business process improvement and implementation
  • eliciting, analysing and documenting requirements
  • facilitating business process and requirements workshops
  • analysis of business issues and opportunities, and identification of recommendations for business improvement.
  • providing practical techniques workshops as a follow on to generic training courses
