ISEB Qualifications

AssistKD is accredited with the ISEB to offer training courses and examinations in a range of subjects. These qualifications are from the following areas of the ISEB portfolio:

Business Analysis, Software Testing, Project Management, Systems Development

The qualifications are at the different levels offered by ISEB. The levels of qualification are explained below.

ISEB Foundation

The ISEB Foundation qualifications encompass a wide range of principles and approaches within a particular subject area. For example, the ISEB Foundation Certificate in Business Analysis covers the range of topics and techniques relevant to Business Analysis work. Each ISEB Foundation qualification is acquired by passing a multiple-choice examination lasting for one hour. To pass the examination, it is necessary to answer at least 26 of the 40 question questions correctly.

ISEB Practitioner

The ISEB Practitioner qualifications are concerned with a specific aspect of a subject area. For example, the ISEB Certificate in Requirements Engineering covers the framework, principles and techniques required to carry out requirements engineering work to a professional standard. The ISEB Practitioner examinations vary depending upon the topic being examined. The following certificates are acquired by sitting an open-book, scenario-based examination:

  • ISEB Certificate in Business Analysis Essentials
  • ISEB Certificate in Requirements Engineering
  • ISEB Certificate in Organisational Context
  • ISEB Certificate in Modelling Business Processes
  • ISEB Certificate in Benefits Management and Business Acceptance
  • ISEB Certificate in Systems Modelling Techniques
  • ISEB Certificate in Systems Development Essentials
  • ISEB Certificate in Systems Design Techniques
  • ISEB Certificate in Integrating Off-the-shelf Software Solutions

The examinations for these qualifications last for one-hour and are preceded by 15 minutes of reading time.

Other practitioner qualifications are acquired by passing a multiple-choice examination. These are:

  • ISEB Intermediate Certificate in Enterprise and Solution Architecture
  • ISEB Practitioner Certificate in Enterprise and Solution Architecture
  • ISEB Intermediate Certificate in Software Testing
  • ISEB Practitioner Certificate in Test Management
  • ISEB Practitioner Certificate in Test Analysis

ISEB Diploma

The ISEB Diploma qualifications are acquired by passing four ISEB Foundation or Practitioner qualifications plus an oral examination.

  • IIBA CBAP (also provides exemption from Requirements Engineering module)

  • Benefits Management & Business Acceptance
  • Systems Modelling Techniques
  • Systems Development Essentials

The structure of the Diploma in Solution Development is shown below.

ISEB Professional

The ISEB Professional Award is awarded to individuals who have proven expertise both in their specialist area and in other areas of the IS industry.

Applicants for the ISEB Professional Award must prove their capability in the following areas:

  • Knowledge of specialist area – proven through qualifications such as the ISEB Diploma in Business Analysis.
  • Knowledge of other aspects of the IS industry – proven through possessing relevant qualifications from outside the specialist area. For example, a Business Analyst possessing the ISEB Foundation Certificate in Project Management.
  • Experience in specialist area.
  • Ethics and code of conduct through membership of BCS or a related professional organisation.
  • Mentoring and/or leadership of others.
