Service Designer Apprenticeship

AssistKD’s new Service Designer Apprenticeship has officially launched. Assist’s dedicated apprenticeship team welcomed the first cohort of apprentices in July 2024.

The new government approved apprenticeship is designed to equip apprentices with the key skills required for a successful career as a qualified Service Designer. It is for learners of all ages, including new starters and experienced employees.

The AssistKD programme

The AssistKD apprentice programme is based squarely on the A4Q Service Design qualification, that AssistKD were instrumental in developing. Apprentices enjoy the same low mentor-to-apprentice ratio and specialist training from experts in the field as in Assist’s Business Analyst apprenticeship scheme. Assist’s overall apprenticeship provision is rated Outstanding by Ofsted.

Apprentices put in approximately six hours of ‘off the job’ learning per week, with a mixture of: formal (virtual classroom) course attendance; dedicated mentor input and support; deliberate practice; directed self-study; and eLearning. They also complete a portfolio of ‘evidence’ to demonstrate how they’ve applied their new skills in the workplace.

Everybody Benefits

Employers benefit from a formal programme to develop in-house Service Designers, unlocking the potential of new starting and existing employees. Apprentices develop a portfolio of skills whilst gaining industry experience, working towards the Service Designer Level 6 qualification.
