AssistKD is proud to support Young Carers this Christmas

For the 7th consecutive Christmas, AssistKD is proud to support Lord Williams's School Young Carers. Lord Williams's School Young Carers supports students aged 11 to 18, from Thame and the surrounding areas, who attend the school.

To be classified as a Young Carer, a pupil will have a member of their family, living in the family home, with a condition or disability, mental health concerns or an issue with drugs or alcohol. Part of the Young Carer concept is, 'You are not alone'. Statistics show that, in many schools, student carers have no one to share their concerns and difficulties with and there is little appreciation of the additional responsibilities and stress they may have at home. Many Young Carers have to grow up too quickly and at Lord Williams's they ensure that carers are given time to relax and mix with others who understand the challenges they face. Here at AssistKD we want to support them in their times of need and help to ensure that they never feel alone.

Our donation helps to guarantee that the Young Carers enjoy two trips away each year. Last year all 200 or so carers were invited on a Summer trip to Chessington World of Adventure and, at Christmas, they either went to a pantomime, bowling or Christmas shopping. These are the type of activities that many of our Young Carers have not had the time or opportunity to enjoy previously.

It is a really worthy cause and one we are delighted to support.
