Paul TurnerPaul Turner and Adrian Reed recently travelled to Riga in Latvia to be the two keynote speakers at the International Business and Systems conference organised by the IIBA Latvia Chapter.

Adrian was the opening keynote and spoke on "Helping Stakeholders to Take a Step Back - the Solution illusion", following the opening of the conference by Arnis Daugulis, the Deputy State Secretary for ICT in Latvia.

Paul closed the conference with a talk on "Systems Thinking for Business Analysts".

It was fascinating to see how Business Analysis is maturing across the world and how well received our view of the breadth and scope of the BA  role was received in Riga. The importance of the BA getting involved earlier and particularly pre-project, was discussed throughout the conference and the advantages of this and taking a more holistic approach came through as a key area for development in the future.

In addition to the conference itself, Adrian and Paul were able to take some time to look around the beautiful city of Riga and would like to thank their Latvian hosts for being so welcoming.
